Book Review: When Dragons Sleep

With his first published novella When Dragons Sleep-soon to be- famous author William Fulks astounds. At first light you figure it is a pleasant enough read -full of persons, places and things recognizable enough to be engaging but not so familiar so as to be uninteresting. It chugs on that way for a bit. Putting you into a mild lull with the normal sort of rapid fire action, witty dialogue and multi-layered protagonists you’ve come to expect in the fantasy form. About halfway though though, something a bit miraculous happens. In the span of one extremely well placed sentence and “illuminating” action you come to realize that you’ve been had. This is not at all your standard really good fantasy story. This is something altogether different. Something altogether better. For the remainder the writer weaves a roller coaster tour-de-force of genre bending, mind warping fun and monster-truck-OMG-hammerfirsts to the throat of convention where anything can happen. And when its all over, the dust has settled and your looking for the last man standing (so to speak) you are really hopeful that Mr. Fulks will give into at least one sci-fi/fantasy mainstay and make sure that his is just the first part of a much larger work.

So how much money are you making off promoting this? J/K. I took your advise and gave this book a shot (I figured WTH it is only 99 cents). Good stuff, looking forward to reading more.
